JOURNALS OF THOUGHTS

The fault in our thoughts

I think it is fundamental what we believe and quite intriguing how our belief system could become a vault for our experiences.

Welcome,

Have you ever felt a crack in your ideology but you can’t tell what caused the loop or how to fix it? I think that’s because of our configuration as people. The question is does our character makes us or do we make our character? Do our thoughts form our character or is our character influenced by our thoughts?

If for example, you believe in predeterminism, does that exclude the force of your will?

I think it is within this dimension of equilibrium that we find our personas. For some, it is the tendency to accept that they cannot do anything because it has been determined by fate, therefore, they are handicapped. For some others, fate is just a guideline for the acceptance of things they can change, want to change, or will not accept.

The constant struggle to control as much as we can to have less mutable variables inevitably leads to the question; to what extent do we factually control our lives?

Popular ideology is manifestation and the power of the subconscious or in scriptural parlance how the things that are not can call things that are in existence. For short, intangibles produce the tangible. This is the most ironic propagation of reality because one would think that reality is concrete enough to be formed by reality but reality is rather a stack deck of ideals.

The fault in our thoughts as a phenomenon relates to obstacles in our thought patterns that limit our existential experiences. The question then, is whether our thoughts establish our experiences or whether experiences are independent of our thoughts but eventually influence our thinking. Are they mutually dependent, independent, or exclusive? is our thought not a foundation for reality?

Take, for instance, the idea of self-fulfilling prophecies. I have quite an intimate experience with this as I am sure several others reading this post. Think of the many times you had something happen to you and wondered if it would have happened had you not thought the thing you thought. I don´t even know how to classify that kind of thinking, is it superstitious, mystic, or manifesting? I for example have met a guy thinking he won´t last long and when my thoughts came to pass, I wondered whether it was my instinct filtering into my conscious or that I prompted a thinking pattern that would foster his exit faster.

I know for a fact that somethings have happened to me that I know if I had a different mindset at the time of their happening, I would have acted differently. Take for example a person who thinks everyone is disloyal; how they´d react to the slightest insinuation of disloyalty as opposed to a person who thinks everyone is loving.

Someone said to me “you cannot act contrary to your belief” I have definitely pondered on this before it came up in this conversation especially in relations to waiting for what you think you deserve. If for example, you think you deserve better than your current situation or station in life, is not going after opportunities or relationships that can change it an indication of not believing what you think you believe or is it mere hubris?

If you examine this statement “you cannot act contrary to your belief” beyond the surface, you can almost agree that there is something about your core thoughts that validate your actions. If you believe you are a lucky person for example or that good things will happen to you, does it eliminate the possibility of bad encounters? I think not, but I am convinced that it makes your disposition for these events more bearable. Whether you choose to be positive or not, good things and bad things happen to every human, the question is what side of the divide you want to be on when it happens. of course, that also is a choice.

I think it is fundamental what we choose believe and quite intriguing how our belief system could become a vault for our experiences.

It leads me to the famous words of proverbs “guard your heart with all diligence for out of it springs forth the issues of life” I have come to interpret this words to mean that the experiences we gather open up to our thoughts. Like some sort of portal or channel. As soon as we canvas a thought, the pathway opens up for us to experience it. So what happens when there is a fault in our thoughts?

Before proceeding to attempt this philosophical diatribe, it is necessary to ask, do we recognize that there is a fault in our thoughts? do we know where the crack exist and when the crack happened? do we know an alternative existence to this crack, or at least do we know people that can help with influencing this chasm? Lastly, are we willing to pay the price?

What is the price you ask? It is simple, the willingness to let go, to realize that you don´t have to be bond by the limitations of your belief. Give yourself the permission to outgrow your beliefs even the good ones because they can become better. This is how to recognize the fault in our thoughts, the realization that we can re-invent ourselves as often as we choose.
